Supervision of Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs)- Project INDIGO
On 17th and 18th January 2023, TPO Nepal organized a two-day supervision program for the Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) of four health facilities in Arjunchaupari Rural Municipality under the project INDIGO. The event took place at the Rural Municipality office, Arjunchaupari. To ensure that each FCHV gets in-person one-to-one supervision effectively to address their challenges, supervision was kept for two days. There were 18 FCHVs who participated in two days of supervision. Two psychosocial Counselors – Sapana Shah and Uma Dahal supervised the two days of supervision training.
The first part of the supervision started with a discussion on the work progress, the number of referrals made, and the challenges faced after the initial four days of training in September 2022. In the second part of the supervision, FCHVs filled out the supervision form and submitted it to the supervisor. After the supervision, FCHVs were given the post-test as part of the research study to evaluate their knowledge, attitude, and behavior regarding mental health.
Besides, flyers were also distributed for the purpose of awareness generation. FCHVs also explained that flyers, chosen as one of the media campaigns aim to help increase public knowledge and improve their attitude and awareness around mental illness, and to inform the community about the availability of mental health services.
