TPO Nepal has translated the ‘Remote Psychological First Aid during COVID Outbreak’ by International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) into Nepali Language. Five key principles suggested by IFRC were followed during the translation process. The documents were translated by experienced professionals in the field and was edited by a board of professional members. Back and forth translation was carried out to address the consistency and accuracy of the documents.
‘Remote Psychological First Aid during COVID Outbreak’ provides us detailed out information on how to provide Remote Psychological First Aid during such a huge pandemic which includes paying attention to the reaction of the client, active listening and, if needed, practical assistance, such as problem solving, help to access basic needs or referring to further options for assistance. The service can be provided through phone, internet, various apps and social media. It is important to remember that the target group of this document is adult population.
