Psycho-social well-being of children, adolescents, Caregivers and vulnerable population improved through psychosocial interventions in earthquake affected communities in Jajarkot and West Rukum
Introduction
This program is a targeted initiative designed to improve the psychosocial well-being of boys, girls, caregivers, and vulnerable populations affected by the recent earthquake in Karnali Province, Nepal. Operating in seven municipalities of Karnali Province and the earthquake-affected palikas of Jajarkot and Rukum West, the project focuses on enhancing mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) within these communities. By training service providers, reducing stigma, and increasing access to mental health services, the program aims to foster resilience and recovery among those impacted by the disaster. Funded by UNICEF, the program runs from June 2024 to January 31, 2025, and is a critical component of post-earthquake recovery efforts.
Objectives
- To improve the psychosocial well-being of boys, girls, caregivers, and vulnerable populations affected by the earthquake.
- To enhance the capacity of service providers to deliver effective psychosocial support.
- To reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues through advocacy and community programs.
- To increase access to mental health and psychosocial support services for affected communities.
