Reading Material for Basic Psychosocial Support Training (A)
“Basic psychosocial support training manual A” has been prepared specially for psychosocial trainers working in the field of psychosocial support, health workers working in the community, social workers and for everyone interested in psychosocial issues. This manual hopes to build the knowledge, skills and capacity needed to provide basic psychosocial support. This manual and Basic Psychosocial support training manual (B) need to be studied before conducting basic psychosocial support training.
In this manual, subjects like psychosocial and mental problems, its reasons, symptoms and effects, support methods, basic principles of psychosocial support, qualities needed in psychosocial supporter, types of mental health problems, depressions, suicide, anxiety, conversion disorder, epilepsy, types of stigma and discrimination, solutions to reduce them, basic skills of communication, barriers to communication, case management skills, psycho-education, documentation etc. have been included. This manual has mainly been targeted for psychosocial trainers but people who are interested in psychosocial issues can easily read and understand this manual.
