TPO Nepal Extends Its Support to People in Quarantine & Isolation Centres
TPO Nepal has been successively extending its services targeting people in quarantine and isolation centres over last few weeks. On May 31st 2020, TPO Nepal extended its psychosocial support to two quarantine centres in two different districts viz Siddhinath Amar Madhyamik Vidhyalaya, 11-Bhimdutta Municipality, Kanchanpur and Madan Bhandari Smriti Prathisthan , 4- Tarabari, Damak. There were a total of 26 male and 1 female in Siddhinath quarantine centre while Madan Bhandari quarantine centre had 10 females. At quarantine centres, psychosocial counselors of TPO Nepal provided information and awareness related to COVID-19, psychosocial problems arising as a result and ways to cope with stress. Additionally, individual short sessions were also carried out at the quarantine centre in Damak.
Similarly, TPO staff visited an isolation center at Shree Adharbhut Vidhyalaya Sahapurwa, 4- Daduwa Gaupalika, Banke. The isolation centre harboured 8 male. Based on observation and discussion with the municipal leader and representatives, the centre had scarcity of safe water supply and medical equipments. So, essential equipments including thermometer, electric water heater, masks and gloves were handed over to the municipal representative and subsequently handed over to the Shree Adharbhut Vidhyalaya Sahapurwa isolation.
