Global holistic approach to the fight against impunity for torture (DFI)
The DFI project was a three year documentation scheme funded by International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims (IRCT) from 1 April 2014 to 31 May 2017) and was implemented in several countries including Nepal. The overall aim of DFI was to combine reliable and effective data to create powerful evidence based approaches to mobilize the public and to target the government to take action to fight impunity. Its main objective was to strengthen and harmonize the capability of rehabilitation centers to collect clinical data of torture survivors so that effective documentation could take place. Major activities included capacity building through educating/training police and security personnel as well as monitoring adherence to national and international human rights guidelines.
In Nepal, the project was implemented in Kathmandu. DFI aimed to achieve a reliable system to construct the basis for a standard of data collection for rehabilitation centers.
