Debrief meeting of CBPCB project
A debriefing meeting with counselors was held at TPO Nepal on 27th February, 2018 to evaluate one of the components of “Community Based Psychosocial Capacity Building (CBPCB)” project. This project is supported by IsraAid and Americares from 1 November 2015 to March 2018 with the main objective of building capacity of FCHVs to screen psychosocial and mental health related cases,providing psychosocial counseling services for people referred by FCHVs and other stakeholders as well as promotion of mental health and psychosocial support in local level, reducing stigma and discrimination and supporting government bodies in initiation of mental health and psychosocial support. The program lasted four hours and was attended by district counselors, project staffs and representatives from IsraAid and Americares.
After Ms. Indira Pradhan, Project Coordinator, welcomed everyone and stated the objectives of the meeting, psychosocial counselors from the three project districts (Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk and Dolakha) gave individual presentations. The presentations focused on project activities, achievement, challenges and recommendations. After the presentations, a discussion and sharing session was held among the counselors and project staffs. Counselors shared about their project journey and gave some recommendations to the project team.
Appreciation letter was then handed over to all counselors for their contribution to the project. Ms. Niva Shakya, MHPSS Project Manager of Americares, thanked all the counselors for their hard work and stated that the community people had gained personal benefit through their counseling. Ms. Momisha Adhikari, MHPSS Coordinator of IsraAid remarked that the important input given by the counselors throughout the project was a big achievement in itself. Ms. Indira Pradhan, Project Coordinator of TPO Nepal delivered vote of thanks to IsraAid and Americares, psychosocial counselors and all those who directly or indirectly supported the project.
Final remarks were given by Mr. Suraj Koirala, Executive Manager of TPO Nepal. He thanked IsraAid and Americares for playing a positive role to advocate about mental health and psychosocial support in the local level, project staffs for their contribution and all the stakeholders directly and indirectly involved in the project.
